Personal Counseling
INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY
The Personal Counseling Department offers individual support to help meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of every New Beginners Preparatory student.
One of three full-time personal counselors is assigned to every new student, and that counselor stays with her throughout her New Beginners Preparatory experience. The staff also includes a full-time learning specialist. In a safe and supportive environment, the counselors work individually with students to help develop healthy coping skills and resiliency.
Personal Counseling at New Beginners Preparatory also embraces holistic strategies, including an annual Wellness Week, which emphasize the importance of social and emotional learning as well as academics. Goals are reached by the development of:
Stress management skills
Smart social choices
Self-advocacy skills
Friendship and relationship dynamics
Study and organizational strategies
